Repress Alert! This is what legends are made of: Acid House, Chicago 1988, Mickey Oliver and his Hot Mix 5 Records, Larry Heard aka Fingers, Pierre, Phortune & Armando.Released in 1988, ACID LP was the first and only full length on Hot Mix 5 Records. It is much more than a classic album, it’s a staple for any self respecting DJ.This is probably one of the best Acid House compilation to make it out of Chicago. Still Music is proud to start its Hot Mix 5 Records reissue series with such a monument to House.Every track on here is a classic in its own right, with Pierre’s “Dreamgirl", Armando’s “151”, the two incredible Fingers tunes "The Juice" and “Ecstasy" and so much more. For the first time, this reissue features all the songs that were on the original release but remastered and on a red vinyl DLP.Don’t sleep on the ACID
Escribano Imprints presents Fluyo 004 — a carefully curated compilation featuring four distinct artists, each offering their unique interpretation of a shared sonic language. Thoughtfully assembled, the release invites listeners on a deep and elegant journey: subtle, timeless, and gently propelling forward. It’s a seamless continuation of the label’s ongoing exploration of sound.
Lisbon continues to thrive musically and Violet is one of the city's most active artists. Paraíso is her natural habitat - she contributed to the first-ever record on the label and has remained in its inner circle.'New Visions' is Violet's testament of a love for ever-evolving sonic languages while doing a notable job in encapsulating her myriad influences. From the acid-tinged, moodier palette of the One Eyed Jacks days to the jungle-influenced sounds expressed in her latest works to the very early influence of 90s portuguese dance music, this EP embraces it all - and then some. The title track seems to speak of hope and resistance, layering oneiric arpeggiated bleeps with deconstructed breaks and a heavy sub that morphs into a drone wave, washing emotions anew. Kaos V, admittedly a homage to the sound of the iconic label Kaos that pioneered a local, stripped down dance sound in Lisbon, sounds like a mysterious prophecy, equal parts ancient and futuristic.Junqueira is a left-of-centre roller that resorts to metallic synths, raw drums and even a digi cello to manifest a sense of club unity. The record closes with the slower-paced syncopated groove of High In Forest Hill: a dancehall-referencing bass sits under acid modulations, eerie vocal synths and a snare drum that just won't stand still.
