Velvet Velour (Scratch Discs) welcomes us to his wonderful inner world on this ebullient EP for Welt Discos. By turns breezy and bumping, each of these sparkling tracks mixes classic ideas with a twist of original musicianship: a subtle hint of acid here, a carefully constructed solo there, a rhythmic shift that suddenly transforms the mood. Tunes like these make us want to dance with our eyes closed for minutes on end, only to open them again to witness the smiling faces of those around us.

A killer but hard-to-find track, In Love was originally released on the highly respected Smallfish Records as a limited 500 12in: the current asking price on Discogs is around £100.Now, In Love is re-released with some excellent additions as a new 4-track 12in EP 300 limited run.Four tracks that mix Techno/Deep House groove with rock-solid bass, Spaced-out Dub, Detroit and Acid influences, all uniquely Vertical Cat.In Love is a deep spacious roller with a delicious bassline and dubbed-out fx.Snow Creatures is deeper still, more Electro but still solid and spaced-out as f.Moss is a Detroit Techno masterpiece with Drexciya-tinged melodies and acid bass.You Shocker! concentrates the Acid with sweet beats and dubbed daft vocal cuts.Vertical Cat has released music on Vice, Smallfish, Sulphur, Projector and Achingly.Artwork by Celyn: celynbrazier (Luke Vibert’s artist)

Lay Down The Groove is honoured to present its 4th record, named “Down Under”, which is the first of the new Split Series.This time, the label keeps focusing on the blooming Latin American scene and keeps working with close friends.On side A, LDG owners open the record with “We were one”, an electro piece that combines a sticky synth with melancholic arpeggios and deep pads. Following "Aloof from it”, a dancefloor-oriented banger, characterised by strong chords and breaks. Both tracks were recorded in Bogota, Colombia between late 2017 and along 2018, and mixed in Melbourne, Australia in 2019.On side B, the Argentinian Dj Braver delivers "Pick Phunk”, a deep track with a funky bassline that fits perfectly with the chords that pop from left to right creating an amazing and hypnotic groove. Closing the record, the Colombian artist Junn, who was part of our last digital release, presents “Apura”, a blend of solid beats and synths that turns into glitch sounds through the track from beginning to end.
