Later this year Kerri Chandler will release Spaces & Places, his first album in 14 years. Interestingly, the whole album was made "on location", with Chandler taking a small, mobile studio to some of the world's most lauded clubs in order to gain inspiration. This album sampler boasts vocal and instrumental takes on two of the hottest tracks from the set. On side A you'll find 'Never Thought', a wonderfully rolling, bumping and extra-percussive affair recorded at London's Printworks that's rich in deep analogue bass, layered drums and effortless piano motifs. Turn to the flip for 'You Get Lost In It', a more melodious, warming and soulful number that sounds tailor-made not only for the Warehouse Project in Manchester, where it was recorded, but 4am dancefloors the world over.

Carpet boss Jorge Caiado returns with three tracks to expand your mind and your soul. Stretching across the A, ’Plant A New Garden’ is a cosmic neo-Detroit techno epic that comes accompanied by a life-affirming narrative in the long tradition of UR’s ’Transition’. On the B, ’Find Your Rhythm’ weaves a military kick, febrile percussion and a wicked acid motif into a dangerously groovy web. Finally, the easy, breezy ’Say What?’ smooths things over with classic house aplomb.
Fabric resident Anna Wall and production partner Corbi link up again for the first time since their debut EP 'DATs In The Attic' dropped on Ritual Poison in 2019. Between then, Anna has gone on to release music on her own label Dream Theory and turned in a gorgeous deep cut for music platform 22 tracks' final send off before closing. Corbi has been no stranger to production either, heading up important label Fina records and releasing stand-out EPs on Rough Recordings & Kouncil Cuts. The pairing bring their newfound knowledge to LTWHT, shape shifting between colorful displays of breakbeat and melodic perfume. Ahead of the release, Anna & Corbi spoke of their love of digging into the past, delving into old techno and rave records and inspired by artists like LFO. While the influences are apparent their sound remains unique, contemporary and flourishing with personality.Title track 'Persistence' opens with choppy breakbeats and deep subs, adding extra depth and weight; providing the perfect base for the record's shimmering synth lines. 'Consciousness' then conjures wide-eyed atmospherics, joining hands with a soothing, deep bassline and diamond shaped arpeggio. 'I'm just changing consciousness' is gently spoken as the track ebbs and flows across the oceans moon-lit surface.Subtly euphoric and inherently introspective, B side opener 'Take A Moment' shows a developing side to the pair's growing sonic palette. Early trance meets breakbeat, in an emotive display of otherworldly electronics and primordial whispers. The tracks bassline and lead add an extra layer of playfulness, turning the track from a cerebral workout to a blissful dance around an open flame. The record comes to a close with 'Regardless' an acid inspired dream that unfolds amongst a backdrop of clouded pads and intoxicating patterns.
Some serious sweetness from Jex Opolis on Bad Timin' the sub label of the beloved Good Timin' records. While 2018's Bad Timin' Vol. I charted a course into the art of darkness, this second volume re-imagines the imprint's focus and aims for a more colorful--and inclusive--dancefloor experience. Along with some searing club dynamics, many of those Jex touchstones we all know and love are here in full force: The playful melody, the disdain for genre, the bad puns ... On EP opener "Fought Experiment," Jex pumps the breaks during a drive on the Big Beat highway, with buzz-saw FX, turntablist scratching and a bubbling bassline along for the ride. Meanwhile, two mixes of "Soft Guidance" let the Canadian producer reflect on his late 90s "Global Underground" phase--while swapping out Oakenfold for wash-n-fold, given Jexy's newfound domesticity. Closing out the EP, "Scott Says" keeps the BPMs high and filters dubby techno through a deep house sieve, all while namechecking a little-known Edmonton techno producer. Recommended!!
Lerosa (Uzuri, Idle Hands, Lunar Disko) adds to his esteemed discography with an EP composed entirely during the summer of 2020. Several of his musical influences – I.M.S., Lee 'Scratch' Perry, James Stinson – can be heard across these four diverse tracks, as he jumps nimbly from italo to dub to house to electro. As always with Lerosa, though, the sound that emerges is distinctively his own, the result of daily cat-assisted studio time at his home in Dublin.
3 tracks for the club. F***in’ jack it!!
