"Underlying Form boss Darren Allen is obsessive about sound and it shows in this sublime new album for his own label. It comes alongside TX Heaven and features deep explorations of a wide array of sounds from techno to house to IDM to electro to breakbeat. It is hi-fidelity stuff with clean lines and well-defined drums layered up next to detuned pianos and skipping UK club rhythms one moment, then driving Detroit grooves the next. It all plays out like a well-sequenced journey, too, as well as being packed with individual tunes that DJs will love to weave into their sets." (Juno review)

Powerfully epic breaky sound hailing from the UK during the early 90s. Beautiful tempo juxtaposition of fast passed driving beats pushed by low ph bass lines under slower piano riffs and patient vocal elements making it a hard one to forget.Low end elements clearly carved from primordial UK Bass aesthetics taking the amen break to new plateaus already very much overlapping with Drum & Bass territory.Ultra dreamy vocals on some kind of The Mamas and The Papas reincarnation, UK dreaming all the way. Heavy ending track vibes. In addition, Juan Ramos' masterful half tempo remix offers the listener a completely different experience with full respect for the original, what else to expect from someone with this caliber of dance floor education <3 meticulously remastered.
Tresor Records is fortunate enough to be sitting on a catalogue of past releases that no other label in electronic music would turn down. Three of the finest in this collection were contributed by Surgeon; 'Basictonalvocabulary', 'Balance' and 'Force + Form' all originally came out on the Berlin institution between 1997 and 1999.Surgeon's inimitable combination of Detroit techno and post-industrial sounds emanating from his British homeland found its fullest expression in these masterful trio of releases on Tresor.Tresor Records have decided that its high time to give these seminal albums another airing, and will present each in a staggered series of 2LP represses throughout the year.'Force + Form' is the last chapter of this re-issue series, centered around Surgeon and represents a turn- ing point both in the artist's career as well as for the history of techno music.Tresor.117 was remastered in 2015 by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering, London.

A classy new Format release! 30 years after the previous one! Three genre defying club grooves continuing where #3 left of. It opens with ''The Session Continues'', a track that captures the playful spirit of the '91 Solid Session. Followed by the off kilter 'Tjirp' with a hook that will be with you for a while... closing out the EP with the introverted Detroit style deepness of 'Safe Haven'. Format doesn't disappoint!
