In 1994 the Vienna-based project iO from Patrick Pulsinger, Erdem
Tunakan, Umberto Gollini and Gerhard Potuznik released a series of
12 inches called Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release on their
legendary Cheap Records imprint.
While most of the tracks where minimalistic Detroit-influenced
Techno, one particular piece stuck out. Claire!
Not only for its mid tempo around 110 bpm, but mostly for the mix of
jazz chords, a funky sample-based groove and a bone dry 909.
Here was a tune bridging the gaps between Techno, Trip Hop and House Music.
Shortly after the release of the full album containing all previous 12 inches, Claire was licensed to Mo’Wax Records in London.
With an even broader audience it was received in a whole different
context and became an instant favorite amongst DJs from different
genres around the globe and a stone cold classic which is still loved
today.

Courtesy Of Balance is the tasteful house label run by Brawther and it was back in 2019 in Lviv during an underground warehouse party that he first made contact with Laconica label founders Ocean and Sasha Pervukhin. They all hit it off and so were invited to showcase the deeper side of the house sounds of Western Ukraine, and the results make up this new EP with the artists taking one side each. Ocean T's opener is a psychedelic, trance-infused cosmic trip while 'What If' rides on crisp beats with some lush dubbed-out synths. On the flip, Pervukhin's 'I Hate This DJ' is balmy, heady deep house from up amongst the stars and 'TR 18 Blues' is a nice kinetic, lithe minimal house cut.
The third in a series of self-released Liquid Earth Physical Records, “Three Dimensional Rocker” is a sonic cheese plate for the dedicated dancer. The 12” navigates through four robust club tunes, surely an expected outcome from the seasoned Californian producer. From Aside titles’ full throttle funkery to the equally nauseating floor fillers on the flip, LEP003 is one big kahuna.
Equal Audio is a new vinyl imprint for stripped-back and DJ-friendly house music. No matter of the subgenre, the focus is on consistent energy levels and rather simple arrangements. A minimalist approach for maximum sound quality. The first release, entitled Giseigo EP, is brought to you by Croatian producer Mariano Mateljan - a true master when it comes to reduced yet powerful tools. With 4 originals he shows that no more than a handful of elements are needed to keep the dance floor moving.
Spin desire is back after a little hiatus with its third outing, still on a quest to put out quality music from artists that are flying under the radar. This time with something a bit deeper than the first two releases, from UK-born and Berlin-based artist : MculoAn artist we were lucky enough to meet a few years ago, capable of producing almost any type of music for any time of night (or day)For this release he crafted a beautiful 4 trackers ranging from peak time house, UK infused breaks, to deep and hazy after hours house and closing it with a downtempo beauty.Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Ring Ring Ring! The dawn of a fresh day brings a new release near. Squid Recordings inks its way into existence with a heavy foot on rave Americana. With releases on Rush Hour, Velocity and his own Nylon Recordings, James ‘Nylon’ Thomas sees his Nylosphere project reborn, remastered and retouched (over two decades later) for the modern world. The two widely varying title tracks, backed with equally contrasting mixes, are a microcosm of what late 90s, American-made dance music embodied. That is, a web of genre hopping maximalism, analog driven punchiness and a beautiful uncertainty to a post millennia world.
Not For You’s 6th Release by founders, Jive Talk.
