Edward delivers his latest collection of works, the ‘Eddie Green’ EP via Smallville Records this July,comprised of four originals.For the past decade and a half, Frankfurt-original Gilles Aiken, better known to most as simply, Edward, has beenunveiling his productions regularly via the likes of his most regular home Giegling, but also Baby Ford & Eon’sTrelik, White, Die Orakel or DFA, plus teaming up with Ricardo Villalobos in 2020 for their Disordered RhythmMetronomy project on Perlon. Here though, we see Edward mark his debut for Smallville Records, a fitting homefor his deep, dynamic and hypnotic style which regularly blurs the lines of House, Techno and beyond.Up first is ‘Primal Dream’, a raw and reduced journey through modulating synth flutters, squeaky percussivetwitches and a bumpy, robust rhythm section. ‘Blue Glue’ follows and diverges into a more mystical sonic worldwith haunting chants, resonant synth licks, meditative chimes and ethereal textures intertwined with crisp, crunchydrums.Title-track ‘Eddie Green’ opens the B-side, embracing a more dubbed out, deep techno aesthetic via murky chordswells, clattering organic percussion, throbbing low end pulsations and vocoded spoken word vocal lines. Theaptly title ‘So Slow’ then rounds out the release, dropping the tempo and shifting focus Edward’s more jazz-tingedinfluences with wandering piano melodies and soulful vocal chants uttering the track’s title, underpinned byshuffled drums and waves of sporadic oscillating synth.

We continue with the label's second release, Djamel Naït's debut EP.Navigating between electro sounds and housy rhythms, expect 5 unique tracks that represent the producer's atmosphere.

In 1994 the Vienna-based project iO from Patrick Pulsinger, ErdemTunakan, Umberto Gollini and Gerhard Potuznik released a series of12 inches called Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release on theirlegendary Cheap Records imprint.While most of the tracks where minimalistic Detroit-influencedTechno, one particular piece stuck out. Claire!Not only for its mid tempo around 110 bpm, but mostly for the mix ofjazz chords, a funky sample-based groove and a bone dry 909.Here was a tune bridging the gaps between Techno, Trip Hop and House Music.Shortly after the release of the full album containing all previous 12 inches, Claire was licensed to Mo’Wax Records in London.With an even broader audience it was received in a whole differentcontext and became an instant favorite amongst DJs from differentgenres around the globe and a stone cold classic which is still lovedtoday.

EYA Records gets off to a strong start of 2022 by inviting ‘The Nothing Special’ producer Oli Silva and Argentinian hardware maestro Manuk for their 16th release.A1 ‘ Mirage man’ by Manuk is a wonderful, expressive techno and trance infused number, while A2 ‘Mutant Mindset’ by Oli Silva has a raw breakbeat impact with classy eerie chords, haunting vocals, and a killer bassline.B1 is the result of the joint effort by the two producers, ‘Multiple Minglings’ is a very impactful psychedelic journey. The EP is completed by a ‘Freestyle’ remix of B1 by UK legendary producer Dave Campbell aka HI-Ryze.
