"Cabaret is one of those well regarded minimal and tech labels that is pretty much buy on sight for fans. Next up to keep that reputation alive is Dojo Zone who does not disappoint across four well designed techno offerings. 'Quasi Disco' is a big and bumpy one with rickety percussive loos and drums that demand the floor makes moves. 'The Green Planet' (feat Emily Lind) is crispy tech house with classic cowbell sounds and eerie whistles, then 'Walk The Path' heads into the cosmos with psyched-out synths and plenty of sci-fi effects. 'Who's Watching' closes down with a darker heart but still plenty of trippy motifs for late night action" Juno Review
Bluetrain, one of Steve O Sullivans many aliases, makes a strong return on Kontakt. Building on his 2022 release, he delivers a distinctive mix of pure dubtechno with a rootsy reinterpretation of the classic track >Precious Times<. Limited black vinyl.
After leaving a huge mark in the techno scene with many high quality EPs on labels like Hayes, Klockworks and Planet rhythm, Portuguese mega talent Vil, finally releases his first long player on dolly's TS series! "Birds Of Prey" is a stunning mix of raw, percussive, groovy, distinct house and techno, with an elegant Detroit flavour. 8 tracks that lock you in on an impressive dancefloor journey where Vil shows his diversity as a producer. Switching effortless between the energy fields of deep melodic uplifting bliss and dark, out of the ordinary, groundbreaking drivers!!!
Continuing the saga, mad mad drama. No overhyped faces to find here, just straight up techno from the heart. Lost Trax... Beware!!..
Serenity is a mental health charity label that is now back with more sonic gold, this time in the form of a reissue of Marco Bernardi aka Octogen's 'The Journeyman' from 2008 on Soma Recordings. It is an immersive, emotive sound with lush and ethereal pads and a moody bassline that keeps you locked. The B-side offers two original tracks from Bernardi 'Travelling to the Sun' is one to hypnotise floors with its hypnotic chimes and raw drums, while 'Little Tiny Crickets' delivers a fast-paced IDM twist with some killer synth work. As always, proceeds go to charity this time Papyrus UK who support youth suicide prevention and MusicSpace.
This is Jongho's debut EP released by BLEND(-). Rather than feeling dramatic changes from major stimuli, the accumulation of small changes in everyday life leads to significant transformation. I realize that focusing on relatively small things and connecting them is ultimately the way to change myself or maintain my philosophy. In a world full of overwhelming stimuli that make us forget the reasons, I worked on this album to share the idea of observing, listening, and feeling carefully.
