In 1994 the Vienna-based project iO from Patrick Pulsinger, ErdemTunakan, Umberto Gollini and Gerhard Potuznik released a series of12 inches called Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release on theirlegendary Cheap Records imprint.While most of the tracks where minimalistic Detroit-influencedTechno, one particular piece stuck out. Claire!Not only for its mid tempo around 110 bpm, but mostly for the mix ofjazz chords, a funky sample-based groove and a bone dry 909.Here was a tune bridging the gaps between Techno, Trip Hop and House Music.Shortly after the release of the full album containing all previous 12 inches, Claire was licensed to Mo’Wax Records in London.With an even broader audience it was received in a whole differentcontext and became an instant favorite amongst DJs from differentgenres around the globe and a stone cold classic which is still lovedtoday.

For this first release, nothing better than bring together friendship, passion and talent. In the last couple of years Floog and Ostinato became close friends and crafted this release togheter. The original tracks from Floog reflect all his versatility fusing minimal with some spicy and tasty vocals, following a different path of the classic rominimal sound. The remixes are the reflection of the label owners personal taste. Antraum (Traumer and Anton) did a huge remix with an infectious groove, a huge bassline, and certain sound complexity that makes you dance from the first to the last beat. Ted Amber its for sure one of the bastions of the classical Rominimal sound. This remix shows all his talent to build unique vibes in each release he does. New US label Squid launches into the New Year with some effortlessly catchy and funky house sounds courtesy of Mr Liquid here. Liquid Earth Presents Mr Liquid is an EP that takes in breaks, tech and tripped out techno all at once. 'The Bug Collector' is a real standout with its phased basslines and puling drums overlaid with some nice prog chords. 'The Wind Up' is a lively and unbalanced rhythm with big hits and icy hi hats tied together by squelchy bass and elsewhere 'Funk Patrol' keeps it wild and loose and 'Beat Girl Beat Boy' is another off-kilter and unique house sound.

Gwenan takes us on an unusual excursion on her new EP, marking the sixth release on Snaretrade Records. Through four windows, we peek into scenes from an unknown script, cleverly disguised as club fare. The A-side starts out bustling and hasty, then takes us out for a melancholy moment in the sun. The B-side has us pause at home in a little skit brewed on a modular rig, before sliding off into the depth of night, where brooding thoughts come out to show their teeth. A remarkable and playful journey, in which Gwenan pays homage to her favourite author, with nods to her youth growing up in Wales.
