It's always sunny somewhere and this EP is a gentle reminder of that... As we speak; someone is cheers'ing one at the Westside Marina, another is sipping on an espresso at Cafe Mediterraneo whilst someone else is on the coast catching The Surf. For the rest of us? We get the Deep Satisfaction of listening to these smooth cruisers which will put you squarely in First Class!
Eclectic Beats Music release number 6 comes in the form of a vinyl 7” single with two Latin broken beat cuts! The A side is a collaborative remix from Born74 and Fradinho, twisting Jorge Ivan Martin’s original track “Yo Tambien Baile La Conga” into a broken beat remix, enhancing the Latin flavours with a dance floor direction, topped up with Frank Santiuste’s trumpet solos. On the B side, Fradinho digs out one of his earlier unreleased Latin tracks and gives it a broken beat flavour, with a Funk fusion through the bass line and synth solos and brass hits.
Fradinho's Here is the first ever original track from Fradinho made in 2001 and now seeing the light of day! A Bright Future is a syncopated beat structure with an overall jazzy soulful funky groove with Latin and Brazilian percussion, an engaging and funky bass line, jazzy keys and cosmic synth licks. Along with the original there are 5 remixes from the likes of the established Afronaut (Bugz In The Attic) that also features Mark de Clive-Lowe on keys, a wonderful Karmasound House remix, a Born74 Boogie Beat Mix, a Bruk Roller Mix from up and coming Mancunian producer Szajna and a darker, heavier and dirtier UK Garage approach by Porto based LSK.
Porto’s based Arctween debuts his “Ping-Pong” LP in Madluv records landing with a overall ambient and dub based soundscape. The whole piece has many harmonic moments with drifty string arrangements and nu-wave synth pads, emanating a chemistry between balearic and world music with a constant feet on swinged experimental grooves. Showcasing the multi-instrumentalist’s ability to navigate between genres and languages.Throughout the album there’s an overall sense of trickling synthscapes mixed with carefully layered cellos and ethereal chords.Adding to the equation there’s a few different close collaborators present in the many moments of this multifaceted stellar listening journey.Recorded between 2021 and 2022.
For the third release of Eclectic Beats Music, Portuguese producer Fradinho is joined by the legendary Colonel Red on this jazzy soulful funky Broken Beat original.Colonel Red is well known by his soulful singing voice, having collaborated with a multitude of established artists and producers but also producing his own original tracks as the lyric writer and instrumentalist that he is.Here, he takes Fradinho’s track to a higher level, through several soulful layers and vocalizations in a Jeremy Ellis / Ayro’esque fashion! In addition to the original and instrumental versions, is a package of remixes, from legendary producer Daz-I-Kue (Bugz In The Attic / BB Boogie / Bloodfire), a fiery Inkswel remix and a Born74 remix!
Eclectic Beats Music release number 7 is Fradinho’s “Tropicafrica EP”, inspired by Ghana’s Highlife music. On the A-side, Fradinho delivers two original Broken Beat tracks: “Tropicafrica”, which also names the EP, is a journey into a slower syncopated Highlife guitar track, with a lovely progressive harmony and guitar picks. “Highlife” has a more upbeat atmosphere, still with the Highlife guitars on a happy vibe and a faster beat structure. On the B-side, there’s 2 distinct quality remixes:Sun 793 delivers a journey into a darker, futuristic, yet contemplating sonic bruk experience, with lush keys contrasting with the overall deep feeling of their “Tropicafrica” remix. Mr. Bird also remixes the track “Tropicafrica”, in a cross-genre fusion between house and broken beat, adding some vocal elements and brass, that results in this uplifting remix.
