Coming hot on the heels of his debut on Distant Horizons, London breaks-master Yosh joins the core label family with a killer 4-tracker on Lobster Theremin.

As one of the most recognisable names from the emerging UKG re-rise (it never went away, y’know), Yosh has developed a reputation for dutty 2-steppers and screw-face breakbeats designed to delight and devastate the rave.

‘My Fire’ is a jungle-influenced cut of broken breaks - malfunctioning, soulful and electric - the perfect accompaniment as day turns to night, the atmosphere loosening as it does. A sun-setting stepper brimming with v i b e s.

‘Hold On’ sees Yosh venture towards his traditional garage territory - low-swung percussion, wubby stabs and ambient dreamscape aesthetics spraying contemplative thought patterns into the air as we sway from side-to-side, before ‘I Feel’ reignites the junglist inspiration with its rumbling bassline, bouncing breaks and underground energy.

We reach our climax with the most ‘heads down’ cut on the record; ‘Outa Sight’ maintains that light and dark sensibility that has become such a staple of Yosh’s productions, simultaneously taking us from moments of sweaty intenseness to moments of blissed-out ecstasy.

Hackney native Eliza Rose has learned everything she knows from her local soundscape. Growing up on the 2-step and 4x4 rhythms of UK Garage (citing the sounds of Lovestation's Teardrops and B-15's Girls Like Us as her first true garage experience) and spending her spare time listening to artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and other jazz and soul associated artists has provided the platform for one of London's leading lights to truly shine - whether it be through house, garage, mo-town, soul or funk - seamlessly blending eras and sounds together through retro-modern vocals and productions on her own Rosebud Recordings. There couldn't be a more fitting artist to celebrate Lobster Theremin's milestone 100th release with, having been a part of the Lobster family for some time now through a long-standing friendship and record shop & label responsibilities, and alongside emerging label affiliate M4A4 the pair deliver 4 killer cuts of 2-step, house-garage and jungle fitting of the moment."With Shades of Red I wanted to combine my love of Jazz style vocals alongside my love for UK garage in a way that still felt authentic for both sounds", she says. "I'm very interested in revamping and presenting the 'old skool' for a new audience while hoping that the people who do have respect for these more retro sounds will also appreciate the tracks. For example the lyrics 'such an uneasy evil' ect in Nyt lyf is a nod to the track of the same name which is one of my favourite Jazz standards."'All Night Long' is a bass-driven bouncer; romantic lyricism, skippy beats and punchy production makes for an easy-listening groove that could just as easily go off in the club, while 'Delectable' sees Eliza marry lounge-jazz vocalisation with M4A4's joyous blend of UK and US garage - inspired, uplifting and joyous. 'Temptation' is a celebration of the Hackney melting pot; meandering through blues, soul, jazz, house and garage in a contemporary blend of old and new, before a late-night rush in the rave is inspired by the 160 breakbeats and lairy basslines of 'Troublemaker's jungle riddim.100 releases. A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us since the beginning and the friends we've made along the way - here's to 100 more!
Roman producer, DJ and label head Marco Passarani is back to duties with a new 12” on his own imprint Unrelatable. Marco’s explores advanced deep acid grooves balancing traditional approach with updated writing techniques, where analog and digital blend in consistent harmony. “Road to P’Jem” is a solid jam with old school Belgian techno flavor while “Katra’s groove” has a deep nocturnal touch thanks to suspended thrilling melody on top of a bubbling fm bass. The package is completed by the uptempo acid techno jams “HyperUno” and “HyperDos”
The EP was composed during a fully immersed, three-month residency at a secretive studio in the centre of Toronto - a city nick-named 'The Six', hence the name of the EP. Stacked to the roof with rare, vintage Moog synthesizers and machines, one piece being custom-made by Robert Moog himself, LVCA had unlimited access to this unique studio that's the result of decades of accumulation by a private collector. The opening track Teep takes us straight into that 2am, underground, dance-floor feeling where all heads are locked into a body-jacking 4:4 journey. Psychedelic bleeps and electronic schisms float above a seriously chunky baseline that's 130bpms of pure drive.Dean's Groove is a bubbling cauldron of squelching bass and atmospheric moods that builds to a head bobbing, floor stomper laced with trippy effects; all triggered by LVCA who was conjuring heat to keep warm while physical temperatures outside the Canadian music studio reached -40 degrees.Notherplan delivers a teasing build of acid bleeps, space echoes and bass notes that opens out into a psychedelic future-scape of raving on Mars. LVCA's joy at being let loose on synths, Roland machines and Synton Fenix boards is clear as layer upon layer of sounds weave in and out of this funky, robot-punk jam.Heavy-Duty Sound is a glorious acid house call-and-response where different bleeps swirl and jive with synth tones aggregating into a near tribal trip that goes deep, deep into a Moog jungle where the flora and fauna is pulsing with electric energy.
Third part in the very exclusive 'Schatrax' repress series.
