We know you're not supposed to because it's often said to be a cheap marketing gimmick but frankly, we love a good anonymous new producer to get wondering about. And here we have just that in the form of Skat who we're told is "heavily influenced by East End Edits and Digwah Ltd" and opens a new series with a one-sided 12".'Skat 01' is a worthy tech cut with minimal drums loops and brushed metal surfaces all wound up into a tight groove and overlaid with some rudely vocal raps. It's the sort of tune that brings a unique character to any set and is sure to get the crowd demanding its ID.
Josh Baker has proven himself adept at crafting the sort of tracks that manage to stand out from the crowd and that's exactly what he does here with a new EP on Burnski's always excellent Constant Black label. Title track 'Sometimes Cap' kicks off and is a loose but driving cut with snares flapping away over lovely drum funk. 'Some Of That' gets its head down and heads on into the night with eerie pads and acid gurgles next to paranoid vocal mutterings. 'Repeat Business' then gets buys on more tight drum programming and fresh sound design and last of all, 'Chesire Badger' picks up the pace with a spooky cosmic vibe.
It's not every day we see a new release from John Beltran's alias Indio. With releases previously only on Transmat and Rhytmic Tech some 10 and 20 years ago we are very exited to present to you his new EP called Phoenix, and what a release it is! Phoenix is a full on Detroit dance floor belter with warm strings and comes with strong remixes from E.R.P. and Stryke. TIP!
Mysterious minimalist techno presented in an exuberant art sleeve on this debut outing from label Aruil. These two extended studio jams are studies in suspense, their gradual modulations drawing the patient listener into a richly textured world. Stepping kicks and hand percussion dance around each other amidst layers of buzz and hum, creating an ever-changing flow to get lost in. This music is as suited to the more esoteric of dancefloors as it is to turning on, tuning in and dropping out at home.Aruil 01 Mastered by Guy Davie at Electricmastering
Leitmotiv is on !The new label delivers their first release.Juzel, a youg south american producer from Mar de plata (AR) takes care of this first release with punchy minimal tracks with some dub and electronic influences.
