2024 RepressWriting about techno is quite difficult without falling into cliché: there are only so many ways that you can say something about a music whose core elements are forged on deliberate repetition; where real talent is attributed to those who can find the perfect groove where nothing needs added or subtracted to hold the listener’s attention for upwards of five minutes.Such tracks are the hallmark of Tresor’s catalogue, and this joy in repetition can be found in works from Detroit, Berlin, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and more. And it is through this lens that Parisian artist, UFO95, focuses his output, resulting in Backward Improvement, an EP that sits perfectly in the spectrum of techno found in the Tresor chronology. The title itself makes an abstract reference to the influence of the classics of the genre, inspiring him to take a distinct less-is-more approach to production for this collection of stripped-down yet unrelenting techno chiselled from the live set which has fixed UFO95 as one of the next holdfasts for the future of the scene.Perhaps it is the fact the UFO95 only performs live that had led to such crisp and focussed studio productions.; each of the tracks showcase the artist’s burgeoning talent for creating the essential foundations of techno; perfect, looping, instinctual grooves that are counterbalanced by an apprehensive tension from off-key tones.Backward Improvement marks the addition of a new name in the list of techno’s best producers and proves that while the genre may now be in its 40th year there are yet sonic explorations to be made and variations that are worth unearthing.
Barcelona party starters Sonido Club venture out of the club to release their first EP, welcoming Papolious Jones, the heteronym of Peruvian artist and Barcelona resident Brian Topham.Showcasing different facets of his performance, they have selected an array of tried and tested songs straight from his live repertoire: Touching on synthwave, electro and progressive, Mr Jones bends the rules to deliver us memorable compositions of deep and effective dance music. Played live in the studio, the music retains the heartfelt energy they’ve come to love of his on-stage performances.Presenting to you Danzantes Incansables - a tribute to the tireless dancers that march deep into the confines of the mind, far into the night and beyond.
Boo !!!Run by Lazer Man & Gog Gadgeto Spooky Wooky arrives with it's first release "Out Of The Crypt »A universe melting scarring halloween vibes, creepy 80's synths sounds and the innocence of childhood. Are you ready to unleash the little devil inside you?
The sixth release on Fear No System: our first vinyl release by New Zealand-based musician, synth warper, and drum creator Go Nuclear, delivering an EP filled with nasty booty beats, featuring renowned producer and beat creator Detroit's Filthiest (AKA DJ Nasty). The four-track EP includes remixes from Raw Takes, the creator of the NO SERVICE label, straight from LA; acid master Wheez-ie; and DJ/Producer Aura T-09, co-owner of Evar Records.
The 11th release on Curtis Electronix comes from one of the most influential figures in the history of electro. Infinite Tetraspace EP is a mind-altering combination of ambient beauties, ice cold machine-funk and spaced out 4/4 kickers that play with the concept of space and time, as expressed almost clearly in the title. Four next level cuts that push their electro even more into the future. We are very much glad they are back.
This VA release offers four tracks, each crafted for a distinct dance floor moment. In side A, Dani Casarano, well known for delivering high quality music Opens with deep, hypnotic grooves, setting an atmospheric tone before shifting to a punchy, bass-driven energy in both cuts In side B, the new alter ego behind Felian & our favourite Bruno Schmidt starts the side with a robotic endless loop, filled with an incidental break and reminiscent synths. This euphoric third track leads into the final minimalistic cut build By the amazing duo composed by Omar Akrhif & Lucretio, perfect for after-hours. A versatile collection for any stage of the night.
