Title track Love For Black Lives (A1) won the Bob James 'Black Lives Matter' remix competition on François Kevorkian’s World Of Echoes Facebook page. Previously available only via Leo's own Bandcamp page (lovetoparty), it will now be available on vinyl for the first time, alongside 2 brand new mixes, the Love Dub and Black Thanks, plus Acid Love.U-guru’s soulful, funky sax/brass arrangement is the ideal foil for Bob’s powerful message throughout Side A, and takes centre stage on the instrumental Love Dub, underscored by Leonidas’ analog production and 909-driven beats.Completing the EP, Acid Love is the most out-there cut on the record, co-produced with Leo’s long time friend and collaborator, Kay Suzuki.
dO iT nOw Recordings makes its debut in the world of vinyl with a various artists' sampler that shows just what they are all about. First up is Pigsie's wonderful 'Silk' which sets a fine tone with lush jazz-inspired keys, dreamy pads and intricate drum work that make it well suited to those late-night sessions. Wearing Shoes then offers 'Finding Your Words' with buttery Rhodes licks and looped vocals over fat bass, and the B-side begins with Michael Oberling and his deep jazz grooves, trumpet solos and swinging drums. Massive R closes with the lovely, jazzy house of 'This Feeling' complete with snappy drums and a catchy piano hook.
Joe Claussell reimagines 3 tracks from Patrick Gibin's 2024 successful debut album 'Strength In Numbers' for Mother Tongue. These are not simple remixes but complete translations into the NYC legend's own language where the words Cosmic and Spiritual go hand by hand. The depth of these new versions is another testament of Joe's ability to always push the Sound to new heights! 'Let It Go' is manipulated into a dancefloor opus rich of sonic surprises and magnificent synth workouts. 'Joint Purpose' is present here in two versions, the deep and complex 'Teenage Music' mix and the thunderous 'Dub Dub' take which is exactly how it's called: an epic out of body bass experience. 'In This Together' comes in a full 15 minutes suite with tempo and mood changes which echoes the best 70's fusion and finally in a more ethereal form ('Voice Of Innocence Version') to close the double pack. A breathtaking travel into Claussell's endless creative imagination where boundaries are won and Music is all that matters!
As Soul Capsule, Baby Ford and Thomas Melchior made some of minimal techno's most accomplished records. It has been many years since they stopped turning out new material - sadly - but their archive tracks are still in hot demand and undeniably relevant. While 1999's 'Lady Science' might be their most famous offering, this EP from 2001 on Aspect Music is no less vital and it will currently cost you well over L250 on second-hand markets. It is Ford's Trelik label who reissues it here in all its glory: the entirety of the a-side is taken up with 'Law Of Grace,' a delightfully deep and breezy minimal dub house roller with pensive chords draped over the frictionless drums. 'Meltdown' has a more experimental feel with brushed metal drums beneath a wordless vocal musing. The cult 'Lady Science' (Tek Mix) is also inched with the whole package being remastered by D&M to make this one utterly essential. (Juno review)
We rewind to 2004, revisiting a quietly influential moment in the Evasive Records catalogue. Following earlier collaborations with Asad Rizvi and Haris, UK producer Chris Pascoe steps out solo with Mong Juice / Trippy Breakfast— a release that captured his deep, late-night take on tech house at the time.
Freerange have commissioned a limited repress of Reflections Vol. 1 on splendid pink vinyl. The four track VA contains the much-prized Better by Cody Currie plus complementary tracks from James Kumo, Jimpster & Bishy, and Radic The Myth.
